The cluster Molecules, Colloids and Porous Materials (MCP) is specialized in the development of a variety of materials and membranes (dense or porous ceramics, hybrids and composites) with controlled composition, design, microstructure and functionnality. The expertise of the staff members includes namely Solution & Sol-gel chemistry, Boron chemistry, Colloidal Chemistry, Self-organization & Templating, Solvothermal synthesis, Microwave-assisted methods, Sonochemistry, synthesis in Supercritical CO2, Surface Chemistry and Solid Chemistry. The exploration of innovative characterization methods, specifically adapted to operando membranes and thin films is another priority of the cluster. Target applications for the developed membranes and materials focus on both energy and environment-related applications such as water treatment, gas separation and treatment and hydrogen production/separation/detection and chemical storage.
